    Make plans now to attend the Hot Springs County Senior Center Dinner and Dance Friday, Oct. 30 with doors opening at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 and dancing will start at 7 p.m. The dinner menu is pork ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, corn bread, pears and dessert. There will be a costume contest with prizes awarded to best overall, funniest and most creative. There is no charge for this event but donations for an upcoming remodel project will be gratefully accepted. Join the fun at 206 Senior Ave....

    Ralph Witter’s elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 26-30. The Red Ribbon Campaign was started after drug traffickers in Mexico City had kidnapped and murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. The red ribbon is a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. With a goal of creating a unified and visible commitment for a drug free America the Red Ribbon Campaign continues on.   • Travel and Tourism Board gets positive financial report

    Tuesday's meeting of the Travel and Tourism Board opened on a positive report. Tourism Director Amanda Moeller presented the financial report and said it is up 25 percent from this time last year. Many of the local hotels and motels are doing very well for this time of year. Hunters, tourists and construction crews all seem to be keeping the local lodging facilities busy. Moeller said the Rainbow Motel is staying open and they have been quite busy.
