  • Bobcat tracksters headed to regionals

    The Bobcat track team held their own Bobcat Invitational last Friday, in spite of rain, wind and chilly temperatures. Twenty-five percent of the team didn't compete at the meet as many of the athletes were in Denver with the music department for Music in the Parks. Twenty-three teams from around the state competed Friday with the Bobcat girls team taking eighth place with just four athletes scoring and the boys team taking seventh with only six athletes scoring.     Hot Springs County High School teachers and staff showered students with felicitations during the Excellence Awards Friday in the high school auditorium. Students were recognized for their work ethic, intelligence, attention to detail and athletic skills. The following awards were given: Top English I Student: Stormy Cox.     Graduating seniors for the Class of 2015 gathered in the high school commons on Tuesday evening for the annual Scholarship Night. Over $160,000 in scholarships were awarded from local organizations, businesses, colleges and individuals.     The next meeting of the Hot Springs County Historical Society will feature “Wyoming National Bank Notes, with emphasis on the Bighorn Basin Banks.” Dr. Peter Huntoon, a former geology professor at the University of Wyoming, will present the program focusing on banks and notes from the Bighorn Basin and the historic bankers who signed them.
