    Property owners in the unincorporated areas of Hot Springs County are advised of several newly-adopted County requirements that affect new construction. These went into effect with adoption of the County’s 2020 Land Use Plan in November of last year.     The Hot Springs County School District Board of Trustees approved a preliminary budget for fiscal year 2021 to 2022, after the district’s business manager, Chauncy Johnson, introduced it on April 20. After Board Treasurer Joe Martinez moved to approve the budget, and Board Vice-Chair Sherman Skelton seconded the motion, the board approved the budget unanimously.     At the April 20 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, Heath Overfield reported on their waste management situation and the transfer station. Overfield started by saying he wanted to put a placeholder in their budget for money going to the access of the transfer station because they wanted to add a lane.     Deputy Travis Bench of Riverton and his dog Ricky searched around vehicles in Hot Springs County High School parking lot during a multi-municipality operation. According to Thermopolis Police Chief Julie Mathews, the dogs did hit on odors on certain vehicles but law enforcement did not find any actual drug materials.     Leland Purl Morley, 99, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Hot Springs Health. He was presently a resident of the Wyoming Pioneer Home. Born August 14, 1921, in Athens, Penn., he was one of six children of John and Charlotte (Cotton) Morley. Upon graduation he was employed in many different venues. He became a building maintenance supervisor for various companies. As Mailman Third Class, Leland served in the US Navy during WW II. In 1947 he married Margaret Teresa Hanf in Guilford, N.     The Bobcat Booster club is preparing to return the annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament after missing last year due to COVID-19. Decisions were made by the Booster Club in March to bring the event back this Memorial Day weekend, the last weekend in May.     At the April 21 Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism Board meeting, Treasurer Matt Hughes presented the financial report. Hughes said for March the lodging tax receipts are $8,288.66 with interest income at $8.64, totalling to $8,297.30. The month was down from last year, but up 10% from the historical average.
