    For any athlete, the games they play their senior year are most important and usually carry a bittersweet feeling with them. Haley McDermott, however, will get the chance to take the court once again as she has been selected as a member off the Wyoming All Star basketball team and will be shooting against the Montana All Star team June 8-9. Sheridan womens basketball coach Ryan Davis released the roster that includes McDermott and other players from Kelly Walsh, Campbell County, Natrona County, Evanston, Cheyenne East, Buffalo and Sundance....

    Those looking to catch some trout on the Big Horn River might have a slower go of it than they have in previous years. According to Wyoming Game and Fish Regional Fisheries Supervisor Sam Hochhalter, a survey of the Wedding of the Waters area, which includes from Wedding to Eighth Street, showed there were 1,100 trout per mile. In comparison, a 2016 survey showed 2,700 trout per mile. The drop in trout, Hochhalter explained, is due to poor survival of the stock fish and no natural recruitment...

    This spring, our fourth graders at Ralph Witters Elementary School experienced two wonderful trips overnight in Yellowstone National Park. The first trip stayed at the YCC (Youth Conservation Corps) in Mammoth from March 9-12. The second trip stayed at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch in Lamar Valley from April 16-20.     Hot Springs County High School students will be celebrating prom on Saturday, May 5. As it falls on Cinco de Mayo, the prom committee decided on a Cinco de Mayo theme and added some new things to the traditional rite of spring. The Grand March will be held in the auditorium this year, beginning at 7:15 p.m. To add a little grandeur to the march, a red carpet will be in place at the front of the auditorium for attendees to “walk the red carpet.” The dance will be held this year in the AG shop, beginning at 8 p.m....

    The Red Dirt Master Gardeners will be hosting a clean up for the community garden located next to the southeast corner of Hot Springs State Park. The event, which is 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 will help get the garden ready for the spring community.     A few buffalo watch as Jake Korte heads through their pasture in Hot Springs State Park during the appropriately named Buffalo Bash 5k run/walk on Saturday.
