    The Thermopolis Middle School track season got underway with their first meet April 6 at Riverton. Coach Brandon Deromedi said he’s pleased with the results as there were 24 personal records, 25 top ten placings for events and a first place finish for Ethan Music in the 200 hurdles with a time of 30.24.     Wednesday, April 10 saw the final matches for the Hot Springs County Adult Recreation District's Co-ed Basketball League. The No. 3 seed, Merit Energy, took third place with a 48-34 win over No. 4 Two Hills of a Cizzle.     Hot Springs County High School senior Ethan Becher has been selected by Down Under Sports to represent Wyoming on the 2019 track and field team in Queensland, Australia July 6-15. The program also includes competition in football, cheer, cross country, golf, basketball, volleyball and soccer.   • Kindergarten registration April 30

    Ralph Witters Elementary will host a kindergarten registration event on Tuesday, April 30, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the school cafeteria. To be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five years old by Sept. 15, 2019. Those registering students should bring a state certified birth certificate and immunization records. If a birth certificate is not available on April 30, it must be brought to the school office before the first day of the 2019-20 school year.     The Hot Springs County Commissioners approved an approach agreement at their Tuesday afternoon meeting, however, there is a caveat to agreement. Jeramie Prine requested the permit on County Road 15-8, one mile from the start of the county road. He is asking permission for the approach so he may store a boat in a building at that location.     This past week, members of the Thermopolis Wrestling Club saw action on the mats at the Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association’s State Championship April 11-14.   • April lodging tax receipts up from last year

    Tuesday at the regular meeting of Hot Springs Travel and Tourism, Director Amanda Moeller reported that the lodging tax receipts are up 76 percent for this month compared to April 2018, a welcome change as February’s receipts were down 14 percent and March’s were down 41 percent compared to last year.     The spring sale is on for the Friends of the Library book sale, scheduled for Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. The sale starts at 5 p.m. on Friday evening until 7 p.m. and then Saturday at 8 a.m. until noon at the armory.
