    On August 20, a local group, calling themselves Concerned Leaders of Hot Springs County, Wyoming, filed two Petitions in the District Court of Hot Springs County. In each petition, the petitioners sought removal of a county Commissioner in Hot Springs County. One petition was directed at county commissioner Bob Aguiar, while the other at commissioner Paul Galovich. The petitions are signed by more than 50 residents of Hot Springs County. Although the team made improvements in their play from the week before, Worland just proved to be too much.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat football team opened the 2025 season against the Tongue River Eagles last Friday night. Coming off a close loss to Newcastle in week zero, the team was geared up to get the new year under way.     The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat golf teams were in Riverton last week to play in their next-to-last regular season tournament. The teams will travel to Lander on Friday, September 12, to play a tournament with Lander Valley, Kemmerer and Ten Sleep. The state tournament arrives the following week, where the teams will play on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20 in Douglas. Senior Jadeth Elder and junior Alec Martinez, who each competed in Buffalo in 2023, improved their times this year by significant margins.     The Hot Springs County School Board met on August 21for their regular monthly meeting. The board took up a number of matters, including resignations by board member, Justin Budd and maintenance/custodial director Jared Jeffs. The board disclosed that Budd had submitted his resignation from the Board, which will be effective on October 1, 2025. With a sparsely populated agenda, the commissioners spent more than half of the meeting considering a Single Lot Subdivision requested by Luke and Valerie Mead. The Meads requested approval of a preliminary plat for dividing a parcel of land consisting of approximately 71.16-acres into 1 lot consisting of 10-acres changing the Land Use Category from Agricultural to Residential.     For the second year in a row, the Hot Springs County High School Bobcats traveled to Buffalo last week to face off with the Dogies of Newcastle for a week zero clash. Last year the Cats earned a win on the final play of the game, with a touchdown pass to Ryan Arends in the end zone. Pitted against two Class 3A teams (Lander and Worland), and two Class 2A teams (Wyoming Indian and Shoshoni), the Lady Cats came away from the tournament with a 1-3 record.     The Hot Springs County School District has opted to participate in the USDA Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Program. The CEP program is a both a National School Lunch Program (NSLP), as well as a School Breakfast Program (SBP), operating under the auspices of the United State Department of Agriculture.
