Coming into the week, the Cats were undefeated in the 2A Northwest Conference, with a record of 5-0. With the respective night’s agenda being relatively light, the Thermopolis Town Council recently held two quick meetings and handled a variety of business. Town engineer Anthony Barnett reported that he has competed work on the application for SLIB funding for the transfer station project. CEO Scott Alwin introduced Dionna Colvin, who has recently come on board for the hospital as its clinical and staff education coordinator. Both teams came in third in the team standings - with the girls taking 66 points and the boys raking in 132 points. On the girls side, there were twelve schools in competition. Bobcat wrestling was busy last week with a dual at home on Thursday and then a trip to Riverton on Friday and Saturday for the annual Ron Thon Memorial Tournament. Last Thursday night the team hosted the first of their two home duals of the season, matching up with the Panthers of Powell. The Cats are thin in numbers this year and consequently they give up a lot of open weights in a dual. The Hot Springs County High School Lady Cat wrestlers traveled to Lander last weekend for the two-day Lander Invite Tournament. Twenty-six teams from around the State of Wyoming were joined by the Thunder Ridge team from the State of Idaho. Cody won the team competition with 216.5 team points. The Travel & Tourism Board met on January 20 for their first regular monthly meeting of the new calendar year. The board reviewed the status of their on-going projects, and discussed other future projects. The Hot Springs County Commissioners held their first meeting of the new year on January 6, 2026. The commissioners were advised that the Kirby Creek Irrigation District was not in compliance with their filings with the Wyoming Secretary of State, and were in jeopardy of being dissolved as a result.
