Golf teams take on Olive Green Golf Course

The Hot Springs County High School golf teams rolled into Cody last week to play in the Cody Invite at Olive Green Golf Course on August 27-28. Ten schools sent teams to compete in the tournament.

The Lady Cats fielded four players in the event. In the girls division, the home team took the championship with a combined team score of 541. The Lady Cats finished second with a team score of 585.

Ruth Needham led the field after day one carding an 86 and finished the tournament in second place with a two-day total of 177. For two-day totals, Reagan Huckfeldt shot a 204; Julia Needham shot a 213; and Courtney Heimann carded a 217.

In the boys division, Riverton finished on top with a combined team score of 611. The Bobcats finished seventh with a team score of 717.

For the Bobcats, Ty Simeral tied for ninth place carding a 79 on day one and an 81 on day two for a total of 160. Trevin Shaffer shot a 174; Jarrett Cornella shot a 186; Anthony Cheatham shot a 197; Soren Webber shot a 200; and Jackson Coates carded a 228.

All of the linksters put up consistent numbers each day and look to be in fine form as the season rolls along. Firing a 107 on Saturday, Jackson Coates shaved fourteen strokes off his day one card.

The teams will head to Lander on Thursday, September 3 to play in a two-day tournament and will then face off in a dual with Kemmerer at Evanston on September 11.
