Travel & Tourism digital sign project still in the works

At the September Hot Springs County Travel & Tourism board meeting, Tourism Director Angie Guyon gave the financial report and said that the lodging tax distribution for August 30 was $33,285.36. In the previous year in the same month, the lodging tax distribution was $37,638.88.

In old business, regarding the digital sign project, Guyon presented a mockup design of the sign and said that the materials have arrived for its fabrication to be constructed next. She also said that the easement for the property of the sign’s location had been finished and was filed at the courthouse. Regarding the funds for the digital sign, the project must be completed by June 2026.

The board expressed concerns about coming weather as a potential hindrance to establishing the sign’s base and for the sign to be fully placed. Guyon said that according to the sign vendor, there were delays from Samsung in getting all the parts in place in a timely manner.

The board discussed the coming Fall Summit on October 16-17 in Laramie. Several board members may be able to attend the event. In the discussion, they mentioned the importance of meeting state legislators and communicating the value of marketing tourism of Hot Springs County and Wyoming.

The next Travel & Tourism meeting will be on October 22 at 1 p.m. at Big Horn Federal.
