Wrestlers finish strong in large Montana tourney

Twenty four Thermopolis wrestling club members travel to Billings last weekend to participate in the Montana Open, on of the largest and toughest wrestling competitions in the region. This massive three day wrestling event saw 2,108 wrestlers representing 196 teams from 9 states with Thermopolis finishing in 15th place with a total 216 points, making them the highest scoring team from Wyoming. Two Thermopolis wrestlers, Hazel White and Lilly Quintanilla, brought home individual Championships.

“This is the largest and most competitive tournament on our clubs schedule. Being able to place this high and having a number of champions and placers truly speaks to the hard work that these kids put into being champion wrestlers,” said coach Matt Ryan.
