John Corbin, a former HSCSD teacher, who now teaches social studies at Cody High School, has been named the 2024 Wyoming Teacher of the Year. Corbin, a Wyoming educator for 15 years, is a strong advocate for civics education. He believes that all students should have the opportunity to learn about the history and government of their country. Corbin is a National Board Certified Teacher and has received numerous awards including the John P. Ellbogen Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence in the Advancement of Quality Civics Education. He supports other educators as a teacher leader and mentors student teachers as they grow in the profession. As Wyoming Teacher of the Year, Corbin will represent the teaching profession in Wyoming and be a spokesperson for education.

Anna Lavin, the principal at Sagewood Elementary in Casper, has been honored with the prestigious Terry H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership. Principal Lavin started her career with the Natrona County School District as an elementary educator, followed by serving as the Assistant Principal at Mountain View Elementary. In 2016, she became the Principal of Mountain View Elementary. She began her leadership journey at Sagewood Elementary in 2018, where she continues to lead and serve today. Her award recognizes for her exceptional leadership and commitment to educational excellence, stating that Principal Lavin is an outstanding leader in the field of education who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication, innovation, and positive impact within her school community. She is a 2003 Hot Springs County High School graduate.

Hallie Martinez is one of the 146 recipients of Tractor Supply Company’s inaugural FFA Future Leaders Scholarship. The 146 FFA Future Leaders scholars represent 38 states and a wide range of backgrounds and academic interests. Hallie Martinez was awarded a $10,000 scholarship and will be attending Southwestern University to study Biology.

Hot Springs Health employees: Annie Bloomquist; Stephen Asay; Martha Galloway; Crystal Merrill; Jeremiah Cannon; Bree Christiansen and Kim Clemetson recently completed a Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Program. The program is supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The purpose of the program is to acquire current information to improve newborn deliveries.
