Bobcat golfers begin season in Powell

Bobcat golfers are heading into the 2023 season with the boys as the defending 2A state champions, last year being their fifth consecutive.

The team started the season competing in the Powell Fall Invite on August 10-11.

For the boys, Hayden Overfield shot an 82 on day 1 followed by a 78 on day two for a score of 160, earning him a tie for 7th place. Hayden Johnson shot a 106 both days for a score of 212. Camden Weyer shot a 237, Van Epperson a 240 and Ian Locke a 264. As a team the boys finished at the bottom of the pack.

For the Lady Cats, Lilly Johnson was the top finisher shooting a 118 both days to earn 24th place, followed by Madison Shaffer who shot a 249. Maggie Landon shot a 105 on day 1 but did not compete on day 2.

The team was up next at the Cody Fall Invite on August 15-16.

For the boys, Hayden Johnson shot a 104 on day 1 and a 105 on day 2 for a score of 209 and finishing in 37th place. Van Epperson shot a 220, Camden Weyer shot a 240 and Ian Locke shot a 257. As a team the boys finished in 7th place.

The girls had a good showing with Lilly Johnson shooting a 108 and 112 for a total of 220 and 14th place. Maggie Landon shot a 227, Madison Shaffer shot a 243 and Ki Kraushaar shot a 248. As a team the girls finished in 5th place.

The Bobcats hosted their home golf invite on Monday, August. 21 and then competed in Lovell on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time. They are up next Thursday and Friday at the Buffalo invite.
