Celebrate reunion weekend at the Historical Museum

This Saturday, July 15, the Hot Springs County Museum is hosting an All-School Reception from 1-3 p.m. Admission to the museum will be free for everyone all day. Featured guest is alumni Linda Brunk Robertson, the valedictorian for the class of 1964. Linda will be doing a book signing during the reception of her newly released book, “Bull Sh*t With Cream on It: A Leadership Memoir.”

Voted as ‘Most Likely to Succeed’ and Miss THS, Linda has had an adventurous life. She has traveled the world, visiting 44 countries on five continents in her work as an educator, travel leader, development worker and Army and corporate wife. She earned a PhD along the way, received numerous awards and raised a family.

During all her adventures, Linda’s heart remained in Wyoming where she was taught her most valuable lessons in life. Raised on the Hillberry Ranch on Gooseberry Creek, Linda spent her formative years in a two-room house and summers in a sheep wagon. She vividly recounts her early years in Hot Springs County as her parents struggle to eke out a living in a remote section of Wyoming. Her story begins with the Blizzard of ’49 when their small kitchen filled with tiny lambs born when the snowstorm was at its worst.

“This rich experience of growing up on a ranch gave me the leadership skills to work globally for the past 25 years,” Linda said. She added that this memoir of her life could have been alternatively titled, “It all began in the blizzard of ‘49”  or “Hot Spring County Ranching:  A Leadership Training Ground.”

Linda recently celebrated her Aunt Alice’s 90th birthday in Thermopolis and is still deeply connected to the community through her family. She is looking forward to reconnecting with old school mates as well as meeting other alumni and anyone else who would like to stop by and chat during the book signing.

“My family worked at the Museum in past years—my Uncle Allen Schweighart and my Mom, Dorothy (Dot) Brunk,” Linda said. “So, it is fitting that the book launch in Wyoming start at the Museum.”

Free cookies and punch from the HSC Senior Citizen Center will be served during the All-School Reception. Come visit with your fellow alumni and enjoy the many exhibits as you reminisce about the past.

Hot Springs County Museum is located at 700 Broadway in Thermopolis.
