On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, Nov. 14

6:51 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

7:16 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

9:12 p.m. Report of someone who had put lights covered in oil on a fence. Upon arrival, the caller did not want to discuss the incident with law enforcement. 

Wednesday, Nov. 16

4:18 p.m. An abandoned gas-powered bicycle was found at 135 Highway 20 South.

4:27 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

6:28 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

Friday, Nov. 18

7:07 p.m. Report of missing property from a King Road location. The reporting party called back to report it was all found. 

Saturday, Nov. 19

12:32 a.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

4:58 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival they found it was a controlled burn on the property that was not a structure.

10:57 p.m. Agency assist for the Thermopolis Police.

Sunday, Nov. 20

11:11 a.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident. No injuries were reported.

8:22 p.m. Neil Strickland, 37, was arrested at a local bar for allegedly violating court bond conditions.

Monday, Nov. 14

5:10 p.m. Request for property watch on a residence.

2:21 p.m. Report of a juvenile that was being abused. The case was transferred to the county attorney’s office. 

6:51 p.m. A juvenile female was reported to be out of control at her home. Officers were able to calm the juvenile down. 

7:16 p.m. Tanya M. Miller, 50, was arrested for alleged breach of peace and domestic battery, second offense.

Tuesday, Nov. 15

10:24 a.m. Neighbors were reported to be parking 5th wheel campers in front of another subject’s residence. The campers were found to be parked in front of the correct addresses. 

3:51 p.m. A three-vehicle-crash occurred at a local gas station. A 57-year-old male box truck driver from Salt Lake City was issued a citation for failing to provide proof of liability insurance. The passenger car involved was towed from the scene. 

Wednesday, Nov. 16

10:14 a.m. A juvenile male was caught with an E-Cigarette Vape at Hot Springs County High School and was issued a citation for MIP Tobacco.

12:25 p.m. A search was performed on a residence and a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana with residue was located. Mikayla R. Chrisien, 19, was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, two counts of use of a controlled substance, and probation violation. 

4:27 p.m. Christopher M. Watkins, 43, was arrested for alleged interference with a peace officer and making terroristic threats after officers responded to a suicidal subject. 

6:28 p.m. A juvenile was out of control at her home. Officers were able to calm the juvenile down. 

Saturday, Nov. 19

12:32 a.m. A traffic stop was conducted on a 37-year-old male from Aurora, Colo., for multiple traffic violations. The male was cited for traffic infractions along with the possession of marijuana. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to not having a valid driver, and expired registration.

10:25 a.m. Report of a juvenile fight in progress at Candy Jack Park. Upon arrival, officers observed multiple juveniles at the basketball court. Other juveniles were attempting to flee. Police gathered all juveniles and determined that a fight was about to ensue, but the police presence prevented it from taking place. Law enforcement learned that the fight between two juveniles was potentially going to turn into a brawl between two large groups of juveniles. The disagreement between the juveniles stemmed from the alleged theft of a vape pen. 

10:23 a.m. Police assisted medical personnel with a female that fell.

10:57 p.m. Deanna S. Morgan, 35, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of controlled substances and violation of supervised probation. 

Sunday, Nov. 20

7:40 a.m. Report of a female who fell and needed assistance getting up. Police arrived to render aid, but summoned medical assistance after learning the female was feeling leg pain after the fall. The female was transported to the hospital.

4:49 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted on a male juvenile driver after he was observed drifting on ice in a large SUV-type car. The juvenile is on probation for prior driving behavior and cited for this new offense. 

8:22 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office.

9:58 p.m. Report of theft at a local gas station. The subjects in question were stopped as they left the parking lot. This vehicle also had an inoperable tail light. Heidi L. Jackson, 49, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s office was able to make contact with the other half of the reported party missing from the theft. Their findings resulted in a probation violation arrest.
