Lady Cats play volleyball at home Friday and Saturday

The Lady Bobcat Volleyball team was busy on the road traveling to different tournaments last weekend.

JV and Varsity traveled to Rawlins and the Freshmen traveled to Buffalo.

Coach Shannon Hill said “These Lady Cats have had a great start to the 2022 season. We just came off a full weekend of tournaments.”

Freshmen went 10-1 in Pool Play and ended up second in bracket. “They played great, passing very well and improving with each match,” said coach Hill.

JV went 2-4 in Pool Play on Friday and ended up dropping both on Saturday’s bracket play. Coach Hill said, “They put some great things together and are growing as a team.”

Varsity went 0-6 in Pool play, trying new rotations and positions. The Varsity team ended Friday with a fantastic match against Douglas showing fierce competition. Saturday Varsity went 2-1 finding their groove and beating Torrington and Lovell.

“It was a great weekend to kick off regular season on Friday at home,”said Coach Hill. She added “My whole team worked so well together there were no standouts. When you are working as a team, you get the job done together.”

Hill stated “Lexi Overfield served really well on Saturday, getting us back into our match vs. Torrington, and she played really well at the net. Kiyah Oliver served 9 points in a row with 4 aces to push us way ahead of Torrington in game 2. Hannah Hill stepped up and set for us all day Saturday with Ina King making huge plays at the net. Our passers, Jayci Basse, Saraiya Sosa and Dazlynn Hunt, did really well getting the ball to Hanna so that we could make some plays and get out of rotations. Brooklyn Williams stepped up on the outside for us during some big moments. It was fun volleyball to watch!”

The Lady Cats are up next on Friday at home against Powell with Freshman playing at 4 p.m., JV at 5 p.m. and Varsity at 6 p.m. and the Lady Cats host Big Horn on Saturday with Freshman playing at noon, JV at 1 p.m. and Varsity at 2 p.m.
