State, county, town Primary Election race results, candidates advance

Complete, unofficial statewide results have been received for the 2022 Wyoming Primary Election. For the state there were a total of 182,142 ballots cast. Of those, 171,964 were Republican, 8,194 were Democrat and 1,984 were Non-Partisan.

Federal and State offices

Harriet Hageman (R) received a total of 113,025 statewide votes to upset incumbent Liz Cheney (R) in the race for the Republican nomination for Wyoming US Representative. Cheney received 49,316.

In the Democratic race for Wyoming US Representative, Lynnette GreyBull (D) received 4,503 votes and Meghan R. Jensen (D) received 1,833. GreyBull will advance to the General Election in November.

In the Wyoming State Governor race, Mark Gordon (R) won the GOP nomination with 101,092 votes. Brent Bien (R) received the second highest number of votes with 48,549. Democrat Theresa A. Livingston received 4,989 votes, advancing her to the General Election. Rex Wilde (D) received the second highest number of votes with 2,016.

Chuck Gray (R) received 75,938 votes to beat out Tara Nethercott (R) for the GOP nomination for Secretary of State. There were no Democrat candidates but 631 write-ins were received.

In the State Auditor race, Kristi Racines (R) received 133,724 votes and was the only Republican candidate. There were no Democrat candidates, but 408 write-ins were received.

Curt Meier (R) received 97,489 votes in the race for State Treasurer and the GOP nomination. Bill Gallop came in second with 40,643. There were no Democrat candidates, but 443 write-ins were received.

In the highly contested race for Superintendent of Public Instruction, Megan Degenfelder (R) received 59,301 votes and the GOP nomination. Second highest vote getter was Brian Shroeder (R) with 55,746. Sergio A. Maldanado, Sr. (D) received 6,690 votes and the Democrat nomination. He ran unopposed, and there were 104 write-ins.

In the race for the Wyoming House District 28 seat, incumbent John R. Winter (R) received a total of 3,018 votes, with 1,511 coming from Hot Springs County, 647 from Big Horn, 625 from Park and 235 from Fremont. Kimberly M. Bartlett (D) received a total of 91 votes, with 65 from Hot Springs County, 13 from Park, 7 from Fremont and 6 from Big Horn. Both candidates live in Hot Springs County. They will face off again in the General Election in November.

Hot Springs County

In Hot Springs County, there were a total of 2,016 votes cast. The party break down includes 1,923 registered Republican voters, 70 registered Democrat voters and 23 registered Nonpartisan voters.

Results of the county commissioner race indicate there will be a new member of the three person board once the General Election is held in November. On the Republican side, incumbent Thomas J. Ryan, with 935 votes, will advance to the general. Paul M. Galovich received 873 votes, upsetting incumbent Jack T. Baird who came in with 835 votes. Galovich will advance to the general. Joe Martinez received 672 votes and there were 19 write-ins. There were no Democrat candidates, but 16 write-ins were received.

There were several Republican incumbents running unopposed for Hot Springs County offices.

For coronor, Mark Mortimore received 1,641 votes and there were 23 write-ins.

Jill Logan received 1,518 votes for county attorney and there were 85 write-ins.

Jerimie Kraushaar received 1,660 votes for county sheriff and there were 41 write-ins.

Becky Kersten received 1,691 votes for county clerk and there were 8 write-ins.

Julie Mortimore received 1,720 votes for county treasurer and there were 11 write-ins.

Daniel Webber received 1,633 votes for county assessor and there were 14 write-ins.

Terri Cornella received 1,641 votes for clerk of district court and there were 12 write-ins.

The break down of Democrat write-ins includes: coroner 8, attorney 5, sheriff 8, clerk 7, treasurer 9, assessor 8 and clerk of district court 8.

Town of Thermopolis

Both candidates for Thermopolis Mayor advance to the General Election in November. Incumbent Mike Chimenti received 528 votes and Adam Ryan Estenson received 500 and there were 3 write-ins.

All four candidates for Town Council advance to the General Election where two will be elected for the open seats. John Dorman, Sr. received 580 votes, Tony Larson received 455, Rachel Hughes received 431, Bradyn Harvey received 362 and there were 7 write-ins.

East Thermopolis

Incumbent Jack Kuiper received 72 votes for East Thermopolis Mayor and there were 15 write-ins.

For East Thermopolis Town Council, two seats were up for election. Debra K. Lackey and Dolores Bush both received 47 votes and will advance to the General Election in November. Julie Dodds Music received 37 and there were 6 write-ins.

Kirby

Incumbent Jessica Slagle received 15 votes for Mayor and there was 1 write-in. There were two seats up for election on the Kirby Town Council. Nathaniel Rodriguez received 16 votes, Kimberly Graham received 14 votes and there were 8 write-ins. All advance to the General Election.

Precinct 1-1 men: Bradyn Harvey 327, Paul Garbin 326, Jerry D. Williams 324, 12 write-ins. All advance to general. Women: Cynthia Garbin 431, 16 write-ins. Garbin advances.

Precinct 1-2 men: 31 write-ins. Women: Janet L. Shaver 294, 5 write-ins.

Precinct 2-1 men: 6 write-ins. Women: 2 write-ins.

Precinct 3-1 men: 1 write-in. Women: 1 write-in .

Precinct 4-1 men: Richard (Ted) Brown 447, Joshua Brown (withdrew from race) 350, JW 303, write-ins 33. Women: Jean E. Skelton 553, Cheryl Aguiar 339, Shelly Brown (withdrew from race) 247, Leyann Gomez 169, 9 write-ins. Three will advance to the General Election.

Democrat

Precinct 1-1 men: John V. Fenton 20, no write-ins. Women: Kimberly M. Bartlett 22, no write-ins.

Precinct 1-2 men: John L. Anderson 18, no write-ins. Women: Mary Jane Norskog 19, no write-ins.

Precinct 2-1 men: 1 write-in. Women: no write-ins.

Precinct 3-1 men: 1 write-in. Women: no write-ins.

Precinct 4-1 men: Howie Samelson 12, no write-ins. Women: Suzanne Samelson 13, no write-ins.
