Judith 'Judy' Robinson West

Judith (Judy) Robinson West, 78, of Humble, Texas, passed away on her birthday, April 19, 2022, in her home, with her daughters by her side. This scrappy lady had an amazingly strong will to live, and never have you met a more resilient person. No matter what life threw her way, she found a way to pull herself up and put it in her rear-view mirror. We found great inspiration from her incredible ability to bounce back. She was almost painfully honest and blunt at times, but she was also the fiercest advocate for those she loved. Until the end, she was the one from whom we all sought guidance. No matter how sick she became, she never stopped worrying about her loved ones. Her indomitable spirit will be greatly missed.

She was born to the late Gayle Robinson, Sr. and Velma Barnes Robinson on April 19, 1944, in Vallejo, California. The family then moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming when Judy was two years old, and she graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis in 1962. Though she left Thermopolis soon after high school, she never lost her fondness for her childhood home. As an adult, she and her family would move quite a few times until, in 1993, she and her husband permanently settled in Humble.

She attended business college and went to work in the accounting field. She continued to work in accounting in some form or fashion the rest of her professional life. She ultimately retired from the Houston office of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) at the age of 70.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin West, and her son, Stuart Bohnet. And she is survived by her daughters, Heidi (Roger) Schmidt and Deidre (Andrew) Molchan; her grandsons, Richard Craig, III and Travis Schmidt; and her siblings, Jeanne (Thomas) Stancliff and Gayle (Joan) Robinson, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Atascocita Presbyterian Church (19426 Atasca Oaks Dr., Humble, TX 77346) at 11:30 a.m. Officiating the service will be Sunny Langlinais, the chaplain for Bristol Hospice. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to Judy's favorite charity-St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. There will be a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.

The reception will consist of a British style afternoon tea. One of Judy's favorite vacations of all time was when she toured England, Ireland, and Scotland with her sister, Jeanne, and her daughter, Deidre (who was living in England at the time). During that vacation, however, she did not have a chance to enjoy an afternoon/high tea, and she had expressed some regret for missing out. So, we will now enjoy a British tea service in her honor.

Following the memorial service, we will be taking her on one final road trip. Half of her ashes will be interred in Thermopolis (where her parents are also buried), and the other half will be placed in Mulberry, KS (where her husband was laid to rest).
