On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Tuesday, May 17

1:58 a.m. An agency assist involving the Thermopolis Police Department on a call for a domestic disturbance.

11:40 a.m. Report of fraud involving a victim who was charged $130 on his credit card without his authorization. The subject will contact his credit card company and look into a possible refund.

Wednesday, May 18

10:12 a.m. Deputies responded to a structural fire at 3672 Grass Creek. A structure on fire was threatening a nearby residence. There were no occupants present. The fire was extinguished by the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department and the Meeteetse Fire District. The owner arrived on the scene and advised that the fire may have been caused by an energy motor that refracts sunlight. The residence was not damaged by the fire. 

Thursday, May 19

Unknown time: Tiffany Alberding, 41, from Riverton was arrested for alleged probation revocation.  

Saturday, May 21

12:01 p.m. Report of theft involving a car. After the investigation, the deputy determined it to be a civil matter. 

12:54 p.m. Report of a property watch of a possible unsecured premise in the 100 block of South D Avenue. 

Sunday, May 22

8:35 p.m. A 33-year-old female was taken to the hospital for assistance.

Monday, May 16

1:28 p.m. Report of an accident involving a 65-year-old female who backed into a motorcycle in the 1000 block of S. 6th Street. The driver is going to handle the accident civilly. 

Tuesday, May 17

1:09 a.m. Ruth Gillespie, 23, was arrested for allegedly causing bodily injury to a 32-year-old male boyfriend at a hotel. Both subjects are from California.  

Wednesday, May 18

8:35 a.m. Report of suspicious activity involving a 23-year-old female who reported the door of a camper was wide open when she checked the property. There didn’t appear to be anything missing. The last time the subject checked the property was in January. The subject is not the owner of the camper.

Thursday, May 19

1:16 a.m. Devyn Lucas-Drake, 33, was arrested for alleged breach of peace. She allegedly was screaming, cussing and threatening hospital ER staff and patients. 

7:47 a.m. Report of a family disturbance involving a 33-year-old female who called 911 to report a family altercation. When officers arrived on the scene, the 33-year-old female advised that her mother, a 54-year-old female, attacked her. When questioning witnesses, it was evident nobody saw what had happened and there was no clear aggressor. The 33-year-old female was removed from the residence and found a hotel to stay at. 

11:57 a.m. A woman reported sexual misconduct between 3 male elementary school students. The victim was taken home early, and the two aggressors were suspended from school.

5:58 p.m. Report of an accident involving a 58-year-old female who backed her vehicle into one driven by a 42-year-old female in a business parking lot. The 58-year-old female was cited for unsafe backing and the 42-year-old female was cited for an expired driver’s license. 

7:47 p.m. A welfare check involving a father from Texas of a 4-year-old female who requested a welfare check. The officer learned the child was fine and en route to Texas.

Friday, May 20

3:51 a.m. A public peace issue involving a 26-year-old male in the 100 block of Warren reported for a noise complaint. The subject was warned and told to keep it down. 

12:31 p.m. Report of damaged property involving a motel who called law enforcement to report property damage from a 33-year-old female that occurred on their property. After investigating, it was found that the 33-year-old family member is no longer in town. However, her family agreed to take care of any financial loss dealt to the motel. The damage was under $1,000.

1:22 p.m. Personnel at a bank contacted law enforcement to report a fake 100 dollar bill. An officer retrieved the bill and logged it into evidence.

1:35 p.m. Report of possible child neglect involving the Department of Family Services requesting a wellness check on a 1-year-old male at his residence. After investigation, law enforcement decided the living conditions were not suitable for a child and he was removed from the home. 

3:35 p.m. A 51-year-old male reported a bent gas meter and requested law enforcement look at it. Law enforcement arrived on the scene and male reported the meter had been off since 2012.

Saturday, May 21

1:55 a.m. Report of public intoxication involving a 21-year-old male who was cited after being found asleep on the concrete outside a bar. 

10:26 a.m. Report of a minor in possession involving an officer while patrolling the 1300 block of Canyon Hills. The officer spotted a 19-year-old female smoking on the south side of the road while walking west. The officer approached the 19-year-old female and seized her nicotine vape, and let her be on her way. There were no citations.

3:42 p.m. A citizen assist involving a 77-year-old male who found a used shotgun shell next to a broken clay pigeon in the 300 block of Arapahoe Street. The used shotgun shell was removed. 

5:46 p.m. A 34-year-old woman reported her clothes were stolen while washing at a laundromat. The investigation is still pending.

Sunday, May 22

7:05 p.m. A 33-year-old female was trespassed from a property in the 1200 block of Broadway.

Linda M. Crabtree possession of a controlled substance, 30 days jail, 28 days suspended, one-year unsupervised probation, fees, and fines $470 and use of a controlled substance, Schedule I, II or III, 30 days jail, 28 days suspended, six-months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $320.
