Lady Cats improving as a team

Lady Bobcats celebrated three seniors Kamry Bowman, Layne Myers, and Mariah Brooks on Friday at home against Newcastle.  The seniors were able to play the entire game and gave a great showcase.  Kamry scored 18 points, Layne with 12, and Mariah with 6 throughout the game.

Previously when the Lady Cats went up against Newcastle they lost 50-10, on Friday they lost again but showed improvement playing as a team and fighting to the end with improved defense and scoring with a final score of Newcastle 72, Thermopolis 49. Other scorers in the game include Ruthann Johnson 6, Dazlynn Hunt with 5 and Jayci Basse with 2 points.

On Saturday the Lady Cats traveled to Douglas where the vibe was a different one from the night before.  The girls struggled with finding the flow as a team and the full court pressure by Douglas wore on the Cats and they were not able to get the momentum going.

"Though I tell the team we make no excuses for any losses we were one step behind in speed, offensive sets, and in our defensive schemes," coach David Villa said about the Cats against Douglas.  He went on to add the Cats played with grit, determination, and passion and have had many improvements as a team.  The final score was Douglas 63, Thermopolis 20 with lead scorers being Mariah Brooks with 9 points, Kamry Bowman 8, and Ruthann Johnson with 3 points.

Coach Villa wanted to give a shoutout to his three seniors about their play against Newcastle by saying " They have played through various adversities this season and keep moving forward this season. I want to recognize their game play against Newcastle as they brought 36 points, multiple defensive stops and key leadership in the game."

This coming Friday the Lady Cats will be traveling to Buffalo and are looking forward to this matchup.  Regionals will begin March 3 in Burns.
