Frank Herbert Harris

Frank Herbert Harris, 82, passed away January 11, 2022, at Hot Springs Health in Thermopolis. He was presently living at the Senior Citizen Apartments.

One of five children, he was born September 23, 1939, in Casper, Wyo., the son of Herbert and Frankie (Bush) Harris. Frank attended school in Mills, Wyo., and graduated from Natrona County High School. Active in Junior Rodeo he was a bulldogger and a saddle bronc champ. In school he was taught how to operate heavy equipment which became a lifelong skill.

In 1962 he married Betty J. Phillips, they divorced in 1966. In 1970 he married Doreen Davis in Casper and helped her raise her four children, loving them as his own. The couple divorced in 1986.

In the early ‘60’s and ‘70’s Frank drove rig truck in the oil fields. He also drove cross-country hauling equipment, bombs, parts of the Hubble telescope, etc. for several years. He then hauled show cars all over the U.S. delivering to celebrities, Jay Leno, Alan Jackson, and Shaq O’Neal and other interesting deliveries too numerous to mention. For 3 years he managed Pima-Gro, a bio solids company, then retired. Later, he once again hauled show cars for two years until his eyesight forced him into permanent retirement.

Frank was a member of Community Christian Church of Marana, Ariz., and River of Life in Thermopolis. He enjoyed telling stories and jokes, reading, driving his golf cart, and coffee and donuts. Children loved Frank as a “grandpa” with a soft touch.  At the age of 76 he decided to raise chickens numbering 100 “pets”. A generous man, he helped many, giving rides, a place to stay, travel monies, and volunteering at a food bank in Marana.
