Girls middle school basketball wraps up

Thermopolis Middle School Lady Bobcat 8th graders finished up their season this last weekend at Conference placing 4th in Cody.

“They had a couple hard fought games,” said Coach Ashley Cleare.

At Conference the Bobcats worked hard as a team.

Jayssie Owsley played her best even through an injury. Kam Farrell helped control the flow of the play and showed her leadership. Charlee Slagle was sinking outside shots, Milli Johnson showed her aggressive side and Sadie Martinez really stepped up bringing the ball down the court.  Peyton Green and Maile Mae McCumber were great rebounders and helped take care of the ball. Maddie Shaffer helped to take care of the ball and sink some shots.

The 8th grade girls finished their season with a 9-7 record.  Against Powell the girls had a close  win 33-32 with Kam Farrell being the high scorer of 19 points.

Playing against Lander the Lady Cats lost 24-51, again Kam Farrell being the high scorer of the game.

Against Burlington the Lady Cats had a close loss 21-26, Charlee Slagle being the high scorer of 7 points.

Coach Cleare ended with “This team was always full of hustle.  They played hard and they were a fun team to coach.  They always did what was asked of them and more.”

The 7th grade Lady Bobcats hosted Conference Saturday and ended up placing 6th.

Coach Cassie Owsley boasted about their growth from the beginning of the season to this past weekend and saw many growths within the ladies.

“Not only improvement but also growth as basketball players, so much so that parents from other teams commented on the growth,” coach Owsley saids.

The 7th grade Bobcats won against Rocky Mtn. 34-22 and lost to Cody 12-51 and Lander 20-24.
