Bobcats win over Kemmerer

The Thermopolis Bobcats won over Kemmerer 41-14 at home last Friday.

“The team came out and executed early in the game.  I believe they were prepared,” said coach Matt McPhie.

The Bobcats were coming off a two week break from school because of the high number of absences due to COVID . During that time, no organized practices were held.

“We had some kids go out and make some plays on both sides of the ball. We took care of the ball and didn’t turn it over which is a goal week in and out,” said McPhie

Adley Coyne played a good game on both sides of the ball for the Bobcats.

“He did some nice things on defense, batting down a couple balls and coming up with a couple of big sacks,” said McPhie.

Gavin Shumway played a really good game.

Roedy Farrell had four touchdowns and Coyne had two touchdowns (both receptions on his way to over 100 yards receiving).

“Overall, our O-line led the way.  They cleared some paths for our backs to rush for over 300 yards,” said McPhie.

Defensively Eli McCumber picked up a key interception to help lead an early attack by the team.

“We need to tackle better.  We need to be better at communicating in all facets. I think we did some nice things for the first game out, but we’ll address some issues, clean them up and prepare for a good Lovell team,” said McPhie.

Looking ahead to Friday’s game, coach McPhie stated that Lovell has a nice ball club.

He added, “They have several ways they can try to get after you...Lovell is a well coached team, and we understand the challenge ahead,”

The game is this Friday at 7 p.m. at the LeRoy Hays Field.
