Helen Nickelson Rush

Helen Nickelson Rush, 101, passed away July 10, 2021.

Helen was born in Max, Neb., to Ernest Doak and Ethel Jones Doak on January 22, 1920. Helen circled the sun 101 times and gave many a hug, kiss and swat on the rear end. She was loved by so many and loved them all back. She married the love of her life, Harry Nickelson, when she was 17. We think she may have been younger. They ranched on Copper Mountain and had five children. Harry passed away on January 21, 1972. Then she married Clair Rush. He passed away in 1984.

She loved children and was a Foster Grandmother for many years and loved every minute of it. She moved to Lander, Wyo., in 1990 to be closer to her children. Recently she was able to go to her great-grandson's graduation party and was able to see many family members and friends at once. Helen lived a full and exciting life. The stories she shared are absolutely priceless. She always said don't be afraid to live your life to the fullest.

She is survived by the staff of Westwards Heights; daughters, Jackie McGee, Edna (Henry) Kraft and Dixie (Pat) Realing; son, Denny (Nancy) Nickelson; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 27 great, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; two brothers; daughter, Wilma Shaffer; granddaughter, Sherry Kay McGee; grandson, Josh Realing; great-grandson Gavin Reed; and great, great-grandson Carson Croft.
