Searching for drugs

Deputy Travis Bench of Riverton and his dog Ricky searched around vehicles in Hot Springs County High School parking lot during a multi-municipality operation. According to Thermopolis Police Chief Julie Mathews, the dogs did hit on odors on certain vehicles but law enforcement did not find any actual drug materials. Deputy Bench said Ricky gives a passive alert when finding a scent coming from drugs. This alert is sitting down, changing in posture and breathing. When he comes to the strongest scent he takes a deep breath through his nose and stops searching.
