Twila Wood

Twila Wood, 89, soon to be 90, passed on March 23, 2021 at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness.

She was born on May 18, 1931 near Holt, Wyoming at the homestead of her parents, Frank "Friday" and Edith (Reed) Rathbun.  Twila graduated eighth grade then quit school to help on the family ranch and care for a younger sibling with a disability.

On July 10, 1949 she married Harry "Buzz" Wood.  They had three children.  The couple later divorced.

Twila held numerous jobs in Thermopolis throughout the years but we believe her favorites might have been: driving truck for Ryan Brothers, driving the Thermopolis Senior Citizen bus and later as a Senior Companion.  She loved the last job and happily told all that she was finally paid to talk.  We all know she could tell a great many stories.  She also enjoyed painting landscapes.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Williams of Lander, Forrest (Marlena) Wood of Riverton and Harry "Cotton" (Margaret) Wood of Worland; nine grandchildren, four great, grand daughters and a nephew.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill and Dick Rathbun.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Twila's Life will be held at a later date.

As Twila was an avid reader, she requested memorials be made in her honor to Friends of the Library, 344 Arapahoe St., 82443.

Mortimore Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.  Online messages may be offered at http://www.mortfh.com.
