Bobcats battle hard but fall to number one ranked Mountain View

The Thermopolis Bobcats battled hard Friday night but they still fell to the number one ranked Mountain View team with a final score of 38-14.

Coach Matt McPhie said the Bobcats fought hard but the defending state champions stood firm and took the ball away in key spots, providing the difference in the game.

Offensively, the team managed just 165 yards – 88 on the ground and 77 through the air.

Wyatt McDermott had a season high three catches for 25 yards ad Jaxson Jensen added two catches for 35 yards.

Defensively, the team was lead by Logan Cole, and McPhie said, "Cole did a great job controlling the edge versus a stout Mountain View offense. Roedy Farrell and Wyatt McDermott also had solid performances on the defensive side of the ball."

Farrell and Adley Coyne scored the two touchdowns on the night.

QB Gavin Shumway completed six of 17 for 77 yards, but he also tossed three interceptions on the night.

The Cats were holding their own in the first half of the game, leading 8-6 in the first quarter and going into the locker room down by just six at the half. Unfortunately, Mountain View came out loaded for the second half, scoring 21 in the third quarter alone before adding another three at the end.

The Cats also had a rough time with penalties, losing 55 yards in the process, compared to Mountain View's 44 lost penalty yards.

The Bobcats will take on Pinedale on the road Friday with a 5 p.m. kickoff time.
