Bobcats fall just short against Bulldogs

The Thermopolis Bobcat football team traveled to Lovell on Friday to take on the Bulldogs.

In a tightly contested conference battle, the Bobcats came in just short losing 20-23.

The team trailed 20-14 at the half, but the Cats managed to bring thins to a tie in the third, 20-20.

After a couple of failed offensive series by both teams, Lovell kicked the go ahead field goal with just 12 seconds left in the game.

“The boys played a tough Lovell team really well,” coach Matt McPhie said, “and just came up short.”

Jaxson Jenson had a hand in a pair of touchdowns, catching a pass from Gavin Shumway and throwing a touchdown pass to Eli McCumber.

Logan Cole was the Bobcat adding the third touchdown for the team.

Elijah Skelton played an excellent game for the team on both sides of the ball.

“Elijah is a great asset to this team,” McPhie said. “He works extremely hard each day, has passion for the game, and knows how to compete.”

Defensively, the team was led by Cole and Remington Ferree. They played played solid defense all evening against a big, physical Bulldog team.
