On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Monday, April 27

7:22 p.m. Report of a dispute over a vehicle.

Tuesday, April 28

9:39 a.m. Deputy assisted an owner/manager of a property in the final step of eviction. A court-ordered process was used. The deputy physically removed a person and their property from the rental. 

Wednesday, April 29

7:36 p.m. Report of a drunk driver in the area of Lane 10. Deputy found a vehicle partially in a ditch and high-centered. The driver said he got blinded by the sun. Michael O. Beck, 67, of Colorado, was arrested and cited for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol and cited for no driver’s license and open container in the vehicle. 

Thursday, April 30

7:18 a.m. Report of a situation in the county with a scam call. The subject did not fall for the scam and notified the sheriff’s office of the “American Unclaimed Department” saying the subject won millions of dollars. 

Friday, May 1

5:27 p.m. Report of an ATV roll over at the Centennial Oil Field area near east river road. Two subjects on an ATV lost control of the vehicle and were transported to the hospital. Search and Rescue was called in to assist as the ambulance could not reach the area.

Saturday, May 2

11:03 a.m. Report of a  civil dispute between two parties. The deputy advised them about what they could do.

Sunday, May 3

4:47 p.m. Report of a brush fire 25 miles West of town along Owl Creek. The Fire Department and a deputy responded. It took around 30 minutes to get the fire out.

Police Department

Monday, April 27

1:01 p.m. Report of a subject that was served a notice of trespass to a business. No arrests were made.

Tuesday, April 28

8:00 a.m. Report of a Lifeline alert accidentally triggered. The subject was found fine.

8:26 a.m. Report of a subject wanting assistance and decided to wait until the eviction of another subject was carried out.

9:59 a.m. Request for extra patrol while a citizen is out of town for a while. Officers will watch the property.

2:27 p.m. Report of a subject who lost their checkbook and then later found that their dog ate it. 

3 p.m. Report of a missing person. A small child was quickly found.

6:53 p.m. Report of a 9-1-1 hang up. An officer went to the location and the subject was given info about what they could do for their situation.  No arrests were made.

9:20 p.m. Report of a pocket dial of a 9-1-1 call. The subject was ok.

Wednesday, April 29

5:34 p.m. Andrew Lane Crenshaw, 22, of Gillette, arrested for alleged criminal entry. 

Thursday, April 30

6:24 p.m. Marty S. Custer, 26, of Thermopolis, was arrested in Powell on a Hot Springs County warrant for failure to appear in court and was placed in the detention center.

7:27 p.m. A couple who have parted ways were having problems. One half was told to leave the other half alone.

Friday, May 1

2:59 p.m. KatyMay Carlson, 31, was arrested for breach of peace.

10:18 p.m. Report of some kids playing the game of fugitive in Candy Jack Park and an officer told them to disperse.

Saturday, May 2

10:38 a.m. Report of found property and the owner is known. The department has been trying to contact them.

12:50 a.m. Report of a subject that was served a notice of trespass to a business. No arrests were made.

9:14 p.m. Report of a subject who thought they smelled smoke in a building. No fire was detected anywhere.

Sunday, May 3

5:57 p.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle that was tagged. An officer will follow up to see if it has been moved.

7:13 p.m. Report of some juveniles making threatening messages. They have been contacted and advised to stop.

Addison Hunter was born Monday, April 6, 2020, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Jessica Sinchetru and Robert Hunter Jr.

She weighed 4 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 17.75 inches long.
