Liquor store opens in market

There's a new spot in town to pick up all your liquor needs – Mack's Market.

After several months of waiting, Mack's has created a spot at the back of the store where you can now make your liquor purchases.

According to Eric Mackay, owner of Mack's Market, the beer arrived last week and now the hard alcohol has arrived and will be available for sale on Friday. Wine is in the process of arriving and should be available soon.

While talking with Mackay we discussed his supply chain and keeping the shelves in the rest of the store stocked as best they can.

Right now, he said, everybody is experiencing difficulty getting what they need for their stores because of delays in the supply chain. Everything is going to the central warehouse and is then allocated to the different stores.

While the limit of two of any item may be hard on people, he explained he ordered over 2,500 pieces of dry groceries, but only received 500 from the warehouse. He added that some things are not in stock because they are simply not available from the manufacturers at this time.

"We want to help everyone," he said. "We're adjusting things as we go along to be able to help as many people as possible. We have a lot in our favor, though. We have a great distribution team and they get things to us as soon as possible."

Mackay said he has been working with Emergency Management to come up with preventive ideas as well. For instance, sneeze guards are being installed this week.

He has also been in close contact with the police department in the event something gets out of hand during this time.

While he is not changing his store hours, Mackay is suggesting the elderly and others that may be compromised in some way come do their shopping between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. when there are fewer shoppers in the store.
