On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday, Oct. 16

1:35 p.m. A subject reported a port-a-potty in a ditch in the Black Mountain area. The owning company was identified and recovered it.

Friday, Oct. 18

1:22 p.m. Complaint of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus. The vehicle was identified and was not local, which will make it difficult to identify the driver.

6:01 p.m. Report of a vehicle possibly in distress. The vehicle was located, followed and stopped, and the driver was assisted in putting a spare tire on a trailer.

Monday, Oct. 21

11:04 a.m. Complaint of a fraudulent credit card being opened in a company’s name. The notice that the card was opened was only an advertisement.

2:09 p.m. Report from East Thermopolis of a couple fighting loudly. The involved parties were contacted and the fight was only verbal.

8:55 p.m. Scott D. Jackson was arrested on a warrant for bond revocation.

Tuesday, Oct. 15

12:48 p.m. Report of a vehicle striking a decorative light pole.

2:25 p.m. Report of inappropriate messages between an adult and juvenile. The matter is still under investigation.

2:50 p.m. Alexis D. Jensen was arrested on a warrant.

4:40 p.m. Report of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus. Upon further investigation it was determined the bus didn’t quite have its lights on when the vehicle passed.

6:19 p.m. A female subject was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

Friday, Oct. 18

7:43 p.m. A male subject was ticketed for not having a title on a purchased vehicle.

9:16 p.m. Gregory Ben Lee was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Saturday, Oct. 19

7:43 a.m. A subject was trespassed from a business.

8:23 p.m. Trevor A. Stimpson was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Sunday, Oct. 20

11:53 a.m. An officer observed a trampoline that was about to blow away and helped the owner secure it.

2:16 p.m. A burglary was reported, though the complainant later found his missing property.

Monday, Oct. 21

10:23 p.m. Casey N. Andreen and Hollie N. Smith were arrested for drug violations.

Circuit court

Joseph Grant was bound over to district court for possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a felony and property destruction of $1,000 or more.

Michael L. SunRhodes was found guilty of unauthorized use of vehicle and was sentenced to 12 days in jail with 12 days suspension. Fees and fines are $205.

Harvey M. Simmons was found guilty of driving under suspension. Fees and fines are $55.

Gary L. Sigman was found guilty of driving under suspension, speeding and failure to provide proof of insurance. Fees and fines are $1,145.

David S. Duncan was found guilty of hunting big game in the wrong area. Fees and fines are $135.

Jeffery S. Averill was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, exhibition of acceleration, second-offense driving under suspension and open container, and was sentenced to one day in jail Fees and fines are $960.
