Historical Society programs begin

The Hot Springs County Historical Society will present its first program of the 2019-20 season on Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at 2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Museum.

The opening program will feature land surveyor R.L. Hudson presenting on the Woodruff Cabin Site.

J.D. Woodruff was the first white man to build a cabin in the Big Horn Basin and established the historic Embar Ranch on Owl Creek.

Hudson will retrace the historic path that has been taken in preserving the actual spot of that original cabin, while recording the site with modern surveying technology.

The presentation is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
