Wyoming history: Sept. 12-18

•Sept. 12: In 1922, a woman in a Cheyenne court brandished a horsewhip, planning to punish her husband. She was disarmed.

•Sept. 13: In 1942, Casper attempted to close down its notorious “Sandbar” red light district in response to requests from the commander of the city’s Army Air Corps base.

•Sept. 14: In 1893, a Rock Springs doctor reported on the “prevalance of typhoid fever in town.”

•Sept. 17: In 1924, a gas explosion at a Kemmerer coal mine killed 39 miners.

•Sept. 18: In 1890, two passenger trains collided near Rock Springs. No one was injured.
