Dig for dinos this summer

If you’re looking for something to keep your young ones busy, at least for a day this summer, you may want to explore the Wyoming Dinosaur Center’s Kids Dig Program. Geared for the age eight to 12 crowd, they will get to experience a full day of digging at the dinosaur site as well as prepping and casting. They even get to take home a souvenir of their unforgettable day.

Advanced registration is required for the Kids Dig and is limited to 25 kids per session. The day starts at 8:30 in the morning where they will go to the dig site and learn the rules of being a paleontologist at ground zero.

They will get to prospect on the Sundance, a geological area that was once an ancient shallow sea from the Jurrasic time period.

They will have lunch and take a walk through the State Park before heading back to the preparation lab where they will learn the ins and outs of preparing the bones and learn about molding and casting. A museum tour is included for each of the participants and their adventure will be complete by 4 p.m. The $100 program fee includes all materials, tools to excavate and document fossils, lunch and transportation to and from the dig site.

You may register your child online at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center’s website or call them directly at 800-455-3466.
