On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, Feb. 12

9:44 a.m. A search warrant was executed following a series of reports about a subject selling meth and marijuana. A search warrant was applied for and executed on a residence, inside which was located bags with marijuana and suspected meth. A male subject was cited for alleged driving under suspension, and possession of meth, marijuana and Oxycodone.

Thursday, Feb. 14

12:22 p.m. Report of a driver at the elementary school driving on the sidewalk to get around a parked school bus. The matter is under investigation.

3:02 Reported dump truck with an unsecured load heading into town. The vehicle could not be located.

3:40 p.m. Washakie County requested a Drug Recognition Expert for a Wyoming Highway Patrol arrest. The call was later cancelled.

Saturday, Feb. 16

11:16 a.m. Report of a receiver hitch stolen from a truck. The matter is under investigation.

4:23 p.m. A truck hit an unoccupied vehicle in a parking lot. The two owners exchanged information.

8:05 p.m. Custody dispute involving a grandmother not wanting a child’s mother to take the child to Casper.

11:40 p.m. Deputy observed a vehicle with a rear door open. The owner was contacted and advised nothing in the vehicle was disturbed.

Monday, Feb. 18

11:07 a.m. A deputy responded to a report of a possible domestic incident from the previous day. In speaking to the alleged victim the deputy determined there were signs of a physical assault. Jimmy E. Barnes Jr. was arrested for alleged assault.

6:51 p.m. Report of a vehicle with a flat tire. A deputy arrived on the scene and helped change it.

Tuesday, Feb. 12

2:27 a.m. Report of a lost wallet, which was never recovered.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

1:20 a.m. A complaint came in about alleged child abuse, though the report was determined to be unfounded.

11:26 a.m. Report of a missing subject, who was later found

1:20 p.m. Arik M. Pierce was arrested on a warrant, but bonded out prior to being booked into jail.

2:27 p.m. Report of an accident, in which one vehicle turned into another.

3:53 p.m. Landowner thought he saw a marijuana plant outside a residence. The plant was frozen and did not return a positive test for THC.

Thursday, Feb. 14

7:10 a.m. Report of property damage to a vehicle including a cracked windshield and dented door.

8:10 p.m. Report of a vehicle coming into town with a driver on probation who should not be here. The suspect vehicle could not be located.

Friday, Feb. 15

8:45 a.m. Joseph M. Cates was arrested, but bonded out prior to being booked into jail.

9:29 a.m. Civil standby provided between two subjects.

Sunday, Feb. 17

7:39 p.m. Report of criminal entry into a property. There were no items taken but dogs were let out.

Monday, Feb. 18

1:45 p.m. Complainant reported people crawling into a window of a home. It was found that the subjects were new renters and had accidentally locked themselves out.

8:28 p.m. Report of receiving threatening messages. The complainant was given instruction on how to block the number.

Circuit court

Tanner M. Budde was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and speeding. Fees and fines are $1,005.

Kevin Tuzicka was found guilty of two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 197 days in jail with 197 days suspension. Fees and fines are $255.

Kenneth E. Pulver was found guilty of rude, insolent or angry touches without bodily injury and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 179 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.

Douglas E. Bell was found guilty of driving under the influence and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 26 days suspension and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $505.

Birth

Isabella Naomi Burkhart was born Monday, February 11, 2019, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Morgan McCain and David Burkhart.

She weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long.

Grandparents are Joseph McCain and Miss and Dave Burkhart.
