Business planning coming in June

Business Continuity Planning is an eight-hour, instructor-led course designed to teach executive-level managers and small business owners how to develop a comprehensive and effective business continuity program.

The course is planned for Wednesday, June 12 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department Fire Hall. The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 29, and a minimum of 20 registrations must be received by the deadline to confirm the class will be held.

During the course, participants will learn about the business continuity process, identifying functions necessary to their business operations, assessing the likelihood of potential emergencies in their communities, determining adequacy of existing resources and writing a business continuity plan. Participants then have the opportunity to test their plans in the context of a tabletop exercise.

Topics include, but are not limited to, articulating importance of business continuity plans (BCP), listing costs of developing a BCP, identifying and categorizing functions critical to business operations, crafting a BCP purpose statement, establishing a BCP team and assigning responsibilities, and identifying potential hazards.

The training is sponsored by the Hot Springs County Emergency Management Agency and registration can be found online at eventbrite.com by searching for events in Thermopolis. A FEMA Student Identification Number is required for registration and can be obtained at cdp.dhs.gov/femasid
