Bobcats to host Burns

Though the Bobcat football team came up short against Glenrock Friday night with a 42-18 loss, the team showed improvement against the Herders compared to 2017, which saw a 55-12 loss.

Coach Matthew McPhie stated, "The game began with Glenrock methodically driving down the field and converting on a fourth and goal. The Bobcat offense responded by scoring two series later making the score 7-6.

"With about three minutes left in the half, the momentum swung heavily in Glenrock's favor with a Bobcat fumble, followed by a blocked punt by Glenrock. It was quickly 21-6 as the teams went into half.

"The Bobcats were set to receive the opening kickoff of the second half, however, the return was fumbled leading to another score from Glenrock."

Leading the Bobcats on offense was Chandler Maddock, McPhie stated, "who had 132 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns - two rushing and one receiving. Jon Harvey had his best night passing as a Bobcat ending the night with 14 completions for 162 yards.

"The defense held the state's leading rushing team to nearly 200 yards below their average. Glenrock averages nearly 495 yards per game rushing and Thermop held them to 286 yards on the ground. Jarron Mortimore, Jeffery VanAntwerp, and Jon Harvey led the defense.

"We'll find a way to grow from this defeat. We are a very good football team and the goal is to peak and become the best team this week. We host Burns with a playoff spot on the line this Friday at 7 p.m." It's also Senior Night for the Bobcats, and a win against Burns would secure them the No. 4 seed.
