TMS volleyball pulling it together

Thermopolis Middle School volleyball players had a busy week last week with games on Tuesday and Thursday and then the eighth grade B tournament here in Thermopolis on Saturday.

Head coach Aimee Kay said the A team got another win on Tuesday against Greybull.

“It was really nice to see them put it all together,” she said. “They played solid, high level volleyball and hopefully saw their own potential. When they are all playing their best, they are a force to be reckoned with.”

They took on Lovell and Rocky Mountain on Thursday.

Kay said there were times the girls were playing outstanding and then would make a silly error and lose their momentum.

“That will be our goal for this next week,” she said. “We still need to improve our communication on the court, but serving has improved a great deal.”

She added the B team and the seventh graders are continuing to improve and are getting better at calling the ball and moving to it quickly.

The eighth grade B team ended their season playing their best.

“Passing and serving have improved a great deal,” she said. “They have worked hard and been an enjoyable group to work with. I would say jump, and they would ask how high? I couldn’t ask for a harder working group of young ladies.”

The seventh grade team didn’t have enough girls to play in two tournaments, so they had the weekend off, but will be working this week preparing for the A tournament in Riverton.

The eighth grade A team got a special treat, practicing on Monday with the high school team. The remainer of their week was spent polishing their skills.

“I am excited to see what they do this weekend,” she said. “The potential to do well is definitely there.”

Scores from last weeks games include: 8th grade A team vs Greybull, 14-21, 21-13 and 21-15; vs Lovell, 18-21, 15-21 and 15-21; vs Rocky Mountain, 14-21, 18-21 and 21-16.
