On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sex offender registry

Wyoming State Statute 7-19-303 (c) (ii) (iii) requires that residential neighbors within seven hundred fifty (750) feet of a registered sex offender’s residence be notified. If you are a property owner in this area it is your responsibility to notify any renter or lessee of your property that there is a sex offender residing in the neighborhood.

Tuesday, Sept. 25

7:49 p.m. Following a traffic stop, the driver of a vehicle was cited for speeding and a passenger was cited for open container.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

2:01 a.m. A deputy investigating a commotion at the fairgrounds cited a male subject for driving under the influence, driving without a valid license and exhibition of acceleration. A female subject was cited for minor in possession and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Two additional male subjects were each cited for minor in possession.

12:33 p.m. Complainant reported a subject had driven over his lawn, making ruts and breaking a water line. The matter was deemed civil in nature.

4:16 p.m. Complainant accused someone of taking pain medicine from a home. A trespass notice was issued.

Thursday, Sept. 27

2:12 a.m. Micah E. Maas was arrested on a warrant and cited for driving on a suspended license and not dimming headlights.

Friday, Sept. 28

2:11 p.m. Report of damage done to a trailer home.

6:38 p.m. A juvenile was cited for driving under the influence, open container, interference with an officer, possession of a controlled substance, minor in possession of tobacco and speeding.

Saturday, Sept. 29

9:50 a.m. Report of a window broken out of a vehicle.

7:27 p.m. A vehicle exited the road and rolled over. A juvenile subject was warned for improper lane use and operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic device.

10:38 p.m. Vehicle vs. antelope accident. The vehicle was damaged but drivable.

Sunday, Sept. 30

4:22 p.m. Complainant reported his vehicle broke down. A deputy made sure the driver made it to town safely.

Tuesday, Sept. 25

3 p.m. Verbal dispute between two family members who chose to separate.

9:31 p.m. Doug E. Bell was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

2:07 p.m. Complainant reported receiving a suspicious letter from an unknown subject.

Thursday, Sept. 27

2:16 p.m. Tina B. Sani was arrested on a warrant.

Friday, Sept. 28

12:52 a.m. Richard J. Hanson was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

9:30 a.m. A female subject was cited for shoplifting.

1:06 p.m. Reported scam call from someone posing as a Rocky Mountain Power representative.

3:39 p.m. Reported harassment between several individuals. The subjects were asked to report any additional incidents.

6:29 p.m. REDDI report, though there was no contact with the suspect vehicle.

Monday, Oct. 1

5:33 p.m. Jeremy C. Smith was arrested on a warrant.

9:29 p.m. Jondi D. Alcorn was arrested for alleged public intoxication.

Circuit court

Linda B. Hughes was found guilty of breach of peace and was sentenced to 20 days in jail with 18 days suspended and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205. Dismissed charges were driving under the influence and interference with an officer.

Jesse A. Sovey was found guilty of two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to one year in jail with 361 days suspended and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $305.

Tyler A. Bird was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 81 days suspended and one year unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $255.

Alexis D. Jensen was found guilty of under 21 — consuming alcohol and theft under $1,000, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspended and six months supervised probation. Fees and fines are $130.
