On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday, April 4

3:46 p.m. A juvenile female was told to stop letting people ride on the hood of her vehicle.

3:55 p.m. Assist with Wyoming Highway Patrol regarding a wreck in the canyon, in Fremont County.

Thursday, April 5

8:36 a.m. Report of a deer in the road. The animal was removed prior to the deputy’s arrival.

Friday, April 6

5:09 p.m. Keith L. Knight was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Saturday, April 7

7:01 p.m. Deputy responded to an issue with a prisoner who did not want to return to a cell.

Monday, April 9

4:59 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject along the road. The subject could not be located.

5:24 p.m. Complainant reported a subject had entered an outbuilding on his property. There were no subjects located and the building was secured.

8:48 p.m. Deputy provided backup during a Wyoming Highway Patrol arrest. Tiffanie Knighton was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Tuesday, April 3

3:32 p.m. A crossing guard reported a vehicle did not stop at a stop sign.

6:42 p.m. Officer responded to an accident at East Arapahoe and Hot Springs Boulevard. Melissa E. Balstad was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Wednesday, April 4

4:54 p.m. Report of a runaway juvenile, who was later picked up.

Thursday, April 5

1:38 a.m. An officer was requested for a suspicious subject at a hotel. The situation was resolved and the subject was given a ride home.

10:28 a.m. Subject reported some suspicious material, which had come off a train.

2:28 p.m. Business reported a service box had been struck.

5:19 p.m. REDDI report on a vehicle. An officer located an followed the vehicle but did not observe and traffic violations.

5:34 p.m. An officer was requested for a female subject who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The subject was requested to submit to a urine analysis.

6:44 p.m. Report of a fake $100 with Chinese writing on it.

Friday, April 6

12:54 p.m. Officer responded to a report of drugs found on the floor of a business. The substance found tested positive for methamphetamine. After video footage was reviewed and a search warrant executed, Scott A. Schwartz was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

11:13 p.m. A mother had lost track of a child, who turned up at his grandmother’s house.

Saturday, April 7

1:49 p.m. Female subject reported a male subject had come onto her property and was claiming a vehicle was his. The male subject was gone when the officer arrived.

Monday, April 9

10:51 a.m. Report of a dog at large on a business property. The dog had jumped out of a vehicle while its owner was inside.

Circuit court

Jessie J. Guardipee was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, driving under suspension and no proof of insurance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 87 days suspension and one year unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $845.

Jeremy Smith was found guilty of unlawful contact and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspension and six months supervised probation.

Robert J. Hunter Jr. was found guilty of domestic battery. Fees and fines are $305.

Deanna S. Morgan was found guilty of driving under suspension. Fees and fines are $425.

Joseph K. Babcock was found guilty of no registration and second-offense no proof of insurance and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $555.

Robert C. Glasson was found guilty of driving under suspension and driving without an interlock device and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 23 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $690.
