The Second Friday ArtStroll in downtown Thermopolis, this Friday and Saturday, will feature seven photographic artists, plus textile artists and a selfie contest. Stroll hours on Friday evening are from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The ArtStroll continues Saturday during regular business hours.

Jeb Schenck and his photography will be featured at Flying Eagle Gallery during the month of April. Schenck is a world photographer, taking many trips to South American and other countries. Go along on a trip as you view his photos and see the sights that most people never get to experience.

Mike Balog, Hog Bat Photography will have his work on display downtown, too. Balog lives in the Wind River Canyon and has an eye for capturing life in the canyon.

Claudia Augustin will show her photography at the ArtStroll. Augustin’s art is a combination of photography and photo editing, creating unique colorful images.

Levi Shinkle and his photography will be downtown as well. His eye for taking pictures catches the beauty and surprises of the world around us.

Lindsay Hensley returns with her photos and will be showing alongside photographer Douglas Nelson. Both artists contrast each other, Hensley with her statement of black and white photography and Nelson with his splash of bright colors.

Audrey Philips joins the Stroll lineup with her photography around the corner at Common Ground. Join Common Ground Friday evening for an open house to learn about the services offered and view Audrey’s work.

Other artists joining the April Stroll are Brenda Boren, wall hangings, Andrea Linn, Jane Oldridge and Joyce Fletcher and their textile art.

Gail Jacobson is new to the Stroll and comes from outside of Riverton.

“As a ranch wife, living out of town, I took up crafting as a hobby,” Jacobson said. “I soon had the desire to make my products available to the public. I created my business “Wyoming Womanworks” in the summer of 1996. My heritage is that of Wyoming -- I was born & raised here, as were my pioneering ancestors. I completed my formal education at the University of Wyoming and now make my home on the Blue Chip Ranch where my husband and I raise hay and AQHA horses.” Gail enjoys drawing and painting.

Stephanie Conrad and friends will be demonstrating handmade and repurposed items, and you’ll find live music, baked sale items and repurposed art on Broadway. Howard Hutson and friends will provide the music. Following the Friday evening ArtStroll, Billy Browning will play live at One Eyed Buffalo from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Join the photography fun and post your best selfie taken with an artist or show the artist’s work in the background of your selfie during Second Friday ArtStroll and Still Strolling Saturday, for a chance to win. Prizes for Best Adult Selfie and Best Student Selfie. Join the Strolling Selfie Contest and post your selfie to Smoking Waters Art Guild Facebook page or use #ARTTHERMOP.

Still Strolling Saturday continues the ArtStroll with store specials and artist shows in downtown businesses. The Friends of the Library Book and Bake Sale will take place Friday evening and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Armory.

Stroll to Big Horn Federal at 2pm, for a dry run performance of The Second Annual Thermopolis Middle School Night at the Living Wax Museum. Join seventh and eighth grade students as they practice their mini-biographies about individuals who have made a positive contribution to society.

Strollers are encouraged to pick up a map at any stroll business to find the location of artists and musicians. Return the map to the host business at the end of Friday evening’s stroll to be entered to win a piece of art work donated by the artists.

The Second Friday ArtStroll and Still Strolling Saturday are organized by Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation and Smoking Waters Art Guild with additional help from Main Street Thermopolis, Hot Springs Travel and Tourism and local businesses.
