Another empty building will see some new life, as the former High Country Trading Post building on South Sixth becomes home to Renegade Guns.
Owner Lawrence Burgess said his business has been around for about 5-6 years, and has been operating out of his house south of town.
He worked a lot with non-profits, such as the Elks Foundation, Pheasants Forever and Friends of the NRA, and also did some firearm transfers.
He will open his doors as a full on gun shop, he said, and the building’s location and size interested him.
Among the firearms he will sell will be mostly modern long guns and handguns, as well as gun accessories. Currently he has no plans to carry black powder firearms and ammunition. Right now, Burgess said he is racing the clock to open the front of the store as the shop, but he also plans to put a shop in the back and do some gun smithing. He also wants to provide reloading services when he has the funds to do so.
While he is planning to sell new and used firearms, Burgess will also be taking consignments.
Another change to the Thermopolis shopping experience is the change in address for Wyoming Wireless, the local authorized Verizon agent, which is at 601 Broadway, Suite C as of Jan. 28.
Ed Newbold, the district manager, said the move to the bigger location was to provide space for customers to feel comfortable and a more modern look. The new location has about twice as much space, he noted, as well as a more reliable heat and air conditioning system.
Newbold said they are “super excited” to be at the new location, and they welcome everyone to come down and see it. While the new signage for the business has yet to arrive, Newbold said there is an open sign in the window and they will still utilize their sidewalk sandwich sign.
