On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Nov. 28

6:29 p.m. Report of two missing dogs in the buffalo pasture. The dogs eventually found their way home.

Wednesday, Nov. 29

10:30 a.m. A pair of sunglasses were found in the Law Enforcement Center lobby and turned in.

7:09 p.m. Report of suspicious activity. The matter is under investigation.

Thursday, Nov. 30

9:20 a.m. Report of suspicious activity. The matter is under investigation.

11:16 a.m. An injured hawk was found near Black Mountain. The animal was captured and transported to Cody for rehabilitation.

Friday, Dec. 1

4:11 p.m. Report of a theft. The matter is under investigation.

Saturday, Dec. 2

10:27 a.m. Request for assistance to direct traffic during a cattle crossing, though the crossing was complete before the deputy arrived.

2:10 p.m. Report of a theft. The matter is under investigation.

7:41 p.m. Report of suspicious activity in the state park. Nobody was found when the deputy arrived.

10:10 p.m. Small rocks reported on the highway in the canyon. The rocks were cleared.

Sunday, Dec. 3

3:41 p.m. Owner wanted to report a deceased horse on Missouri Flat Road.

Monday, Dec. 4

1:17 a.m. Deputy responded to direct traffic while a broken down semi was towed.

7:47 a.m. Caller requested a vehicle on East River Road be checked out. The vehicle could not be located.

6:43 p.m. Report of an accident at mile marker 9 on Black Mountain Road. A UPS truck, driven by Greg Hoffman, struck a bull in the roadway.

Hoffman was taken by personal transport to the hospital, as he received a laceration on his right leg. The bull, which belonged to Everett Jones and had an estimated value of $4,000, had to be put down. The truck was reported as totaled.

Police department

Tuesday, Nov. 28

12:09 a.m. Welfare check on a subject, who was found to be in good health and spirits.

8:42 a.m. A dog from another community was picked up and transported to the vet clinic. The caretaker was contacted and picked up the animal, and also purchased a town license for it.

9:32 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle driving up and down the same street multiple times. The vehicle could not be located.

Wednesday, Nov. 29

6:38 a.m. Report of a missing dog. The animal later returned home.

8:48 a.m. Report of missing dogs, which were found and returned to their owner.

10:57 a.m. Report of a dog at large. Though the dog was brought in prior to the officer’s arrival, the owner was spoken to.

11:26 a.m. Report of a traffic offense. There was no further information available.

12:23 p.m. A two-vehicle accident was reported, and a state accident report was completed.

7:18 p.m. Report of an unruly child.

Thursday, Nov. 30

9:31 p.m. An alarm was going off in an unattended vehicle. The alarm quit prior to the officer’s arrival.

Friday, Dec. 1

7:23 a.m. Complainant was bit by a cat. The cat was captured and taken to the vet clinic.

12:05 p.m. Report of a subject making inappropriate hand gestures.

5:20 p.m. Report of a missing dog.

9:43 p.m. Someone was making hang up 911 calls from a disabled cell phone. The subject could not be located.

Saturday, Dec. 2

1:16 am. Officer responded to a domestic dispute. Tasha A. Doyle was arrested for alleged domestic assault.

1:28 a.m. A welfare check was performed on a subject, who was assessed and found to be OK.

Sunday, Dec. 3

11:59 p.m. Caller requested assistance in getting her son to come help her during the power outage.

Monday, Dec. 4

7:07 a.m. Hit and run accident on a mailbox.

1:54 p.m. Subject reported misplacing a legal document. However, a copy of the document had already been filed with the county.

4:32 p.m. An incident involving drugs was reported. The matter is under investigation.

7:52 p.m. Shyam S. Nepali was arrested on a warrant for alleged failure to appear.

9:01 p.m. An incident involving drugs is still under investigation. David J. Ruff was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence and controlled substance use. Laura B. Ruff was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

Births

Charlotte Lee Olsen was born Sunday, November 26, 2107, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont., to Lauren and Samuel Olsen of Basin, Wyo.

She weighed 6 pounds and was 19.25 inches long.

Grandparents are Michal and Rebecca Moncur of Lovell, Wyo., and Randall and Violet Olsen of Thermopolis.

Circuit court

Tasha Doyle entered a guilty plea to domestic assault and was sentenced to 10 days in jail with eight days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $455.

Charles Robbins II entered a guilty to interference with a peace officer and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 171 days suspension and one year unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.
