TMS volleyball players wrap up their season

Middle school volleyball wrapped up their season recently, finishing with a 2-12 record for the year.

"This record does not reflect our accomplishments this season," said eighth grade head coach Aimee Kay. "They really gained a sense of the game at a higher level."

Kay added the girls know what they need to keep working on and she feels they have the attitude, that with more time and effort they can be a team to watch.

"I look forward to watching them throughout high school," Kay said.

This was Kay's return to coaching after several years and it was obvious the girls had an effect on her.

"I really enjoyed getting back into coaching with such a fun group of girls," she said.

For the seventh graders, it was Dhestinny Rangel's first year coaching and things came out well for both the A and B teams.

The A team had a 2-13 record for the season with an eighth place at the tournament. For the B team, they had a 5-9 record with a sixth place win at tournament.

"No matter what the girls placed, I am so, so proud of every single one," Rangel said. "Every day they showed improvement and were ready to learn."

Rangel said that determination showed at tournament time.

"They all played their hearts out and were having fun while doing it," she said. "They were the best first-coaching group I could have had."
