Lady Cats see first practice

Lady Bobcat volleyball got underway with their first practice on Monday under new head coach Shannon Hill.

Hill said there are 25 girls out for volleyball this year with 10 of them being freshman and seven seniors to lead the way.

"We are really looking forward to this year's season and being competitive within our conference," Hill said. "We have some young girls throughout our program with some great potential and we have some solid seniors returning for us this year with varsity experience."

Leading the team in the setting position will be senior, Haley McDermott with seniors Emmie Coyne and Mary Ryan as hitters and junior Kelly Johnson and sophomore Sesi Jensen being big at the net.

The Lady Cats defense will consist of seniors Alex Russell and Faith Jensen, with a few spots to fill in with underclassmen.

"Our girls worked really hard this summer going to camps and open gyms," Hill said. "The commitment level this year is great to see. Our JV and Freshman teams will be great to watch as well with some hard working underclassmen that have great potential that will build our program.

"I am also excited for my new assistant coach, Cortney O'Connor. She has already added a lot to our program in just the first week. It will be a great year!"
