Koy Meyers heads to WHSRA national qualifiers

Hot Springs County High School upcoming senior, Koy Meyers will be heading to the Wyoming High School Rodeo Association (WHSRA) national qualifiers in Rock Springs this weekend after qualifying through 12 rodeos in April and May.

Meyers and his team roping partner, Clay Reiner of Buffalo, are currently ranked 11th going into the competition and Meyers is ranked third in saddle bronc.

His ranking in saddle bronc almost guarantees a trip to nationals, which will be held this year in Gillette, the third week in July. Just the top four in each event will qualify for nationals.

According to his mother, Meyers has had a rope in his hands since he could walk. He also has an uncle who is a professional roper.

Meyers is planning on continuing with rodeo in college and is looking at Western Oklahoma State, Casper College and Sheridan.
