New license plates coming in 2017

Wyoming residents will be getting all new license plates in 2017, featuring the Square Top Mountain series.

The Hot Springs County Treasurer's Office will be reserving numbers in various classes for persons who already hold certain numbers and would like to keep them.

Those include passenger vehicles and trucks with plates numbered between 1 – 2200, small, large and camper trailers between 1 and 400, motorcycles, multi-purpose vehicles and commercial plates with numbers between 1 and 200 and handicap plates between 1 and 75.

Treasurer Julie Mortimore said they will also be accommodating requests for numbers outside those ranges, but you must put in your request to her office before Dec. 31.

Preference will be given to the current plate holder.

The higher numbers include 2201 to 4000 for passenger vehicles and trucks, 401 to 1200 for small and large trailers, 401 to 600 for campers, 201 to 400 for motorcycles, multi-purpose vehicles and commercial plates and 76 to 100 for handicap plates.

Any prestige, military or University of Wyoming plates will be renewed directly from the Wyoming Department of Transportation and those plate holders will be receiving a postcard in the mail reminding them to renew those plates via the WYDOT website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the treasurer's office at 864-3616 or stop in to the office in the county courthouse during normal business hours.
