3:41 p.m. Grass fire at mile marker 124 on Highway 20.

Tuesday, September 27

7:22 p.m. Report of harassing text messages. Subjects were advised to quit sending them

Wednesday, September 28

10:51 a.m. Caller reported a motorcycle that appeared to be driving too fast. The vehicle could not be located.

11:03 a.m. A military ID was turned in. The owner was later found and the ID returned.

Thursday, September 29

11:45 a.m. Mother reported her son taking a vehicle without permission. Marcial (Scott) Martinez was arrested for alleged unauthorized use of a motorized vehicle.

5:31 p.m. REDDI report at mile marker 105 on Highway 20. The vehicle could not be located.

Friday, September 30

12:44 p.m. Report of goats on the road. The animals were back in their field when a deputy arrived. The owner called and reported they had never left the field.

1:34 p.m. Subject complained his sign had been taken by an unknown person.

5:05 p.m. Report of a suspicious female subject in the buffalo pasture area. The subject appeared to be transient. EMS was requested, and she was transported to the emergency room and later released.

Saturday, October 1

1:42 p.m. Caller reported someone had cut his fence. Though he had already repaired the fence, he wanted the incident reported.

7:37 p.m. Report of a dead antelope on the highway. Someone had already moved the animal off the road by the time a deputy arrived.

9:18 p.m. Report received from the Sheridan Police Department about a male subject with issues believed to be in Thermopolis. The subject was found and appeared OK, and was spoken to by a deputy and police officer.

Sunday, October 2

6:51 a.m. Report of a 2004 maroon GMC Sierra stolen on Highway 20 North. Information has been entered with the National Crime Information Center.

6:20 p.m. Call from a male subject regarding an out of control juvenile. An officer arrived and resolved the situation.

Monday, October 3

3:43 p.m. Report of a truck and vehicle accident on Highway 20 North. There were no injuries.

5:09 p.m. Report of a vehicle that started to smoke, then quit running. The vehicle was left in the roadway, but a deputy made sure it was pushed off.

5:50 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle vs. deer accident. The driver wanted to make a report, but had left the area in a different vehicle.

Police department

Tuesday, September 27

9:11 a.m. Calls concerning a business that had not opened yet. It was found the owner was ill, and other arrangements were made to open the business.

9:44 a.m. Incidence of domestic violence. Darren Dumas was arrested for alleged strangulation of a household member.

10:15 a.m. Report of a subject driving on to private property and spinning “donuts.”

10:47 a.m. Report of a dog at large. The owners were contacted and they agreed to get their animals.

4:27 p.m. Subject reported a dog jumped over a fence and knocked him down. The subject was not injured, but wanted the owner to know the dog can get out. The owner was contacted.

6:36 p.m. A camera was found.

11:28 p.m. Two acquaintances, one male and one female, were in an argument. The female subject was assaulted and the male subject was cited for simple assault and battery.

Wednesday, September 28

1:13 a.m. Request for police to contact a medical professional who was needed at the hospital.

8:31 a.m. Complaint about the manner in which a subject was driving a truck. The driver was advised of the complaint, but denied it.

9:31 a.m. Subject had bought some property, and discovered some pieces of identification. The items were turned in.

12:50 p.m. Report of snakes in a wood pile. Property owner was notified and planned to clean up the pile.

1:01 p.m. Officer noticed trees were cut down but the brush piles had not been picked up. Owner stated the person doing the work had suffered an injury. Owners were given 30 days to clean up the piles.

1:27 p.m. Report of a dog at large. The animal could not be located, though a subject called to report a missing dog. The owner said he would get the dog, and arrange to get its license.

1:29 p.m. Report of a dog at large. Contact was made with the owner, who was able to catch the dog.

1:31 p.m. Neighbor dispute regarding a yard and noise. Contact was made, and there was discussion regarding the noise ordinance and the number of allowable unlicensed vehicles.

2:03 p.m. Welfare check on a child who was not at school. It was discovered the child was sick.

4:33 p.m. Dog at large was found and impounded. Owner paid impound fees.

8:22 p.m. Report of a dog at large. Caller located the owner and returned the dog, cancelling the call.

11:41 p.m. Report of someone leaving property at a store and requesting assistance in getting it.

Thursday, September 29

8:49 a.m. Possible stolen dog. The dog was later returned to its owner.

10:13 a.m. Complaint about dogs at large. Complainant was referred to the owner of the property.

11:04 a.m. Report of a dog not being maintained in accordance with the town ordinance. The dog was impounded and the owner, Charles Sharp, was cited.

11:18 a.m. Subject came home from being out of town to discover a lock box put on a door handle and services at the residence cut off. The situation is being resolved.

3:17 p.m. Report of an illegally parked camper. The vehicle was moved before an officer arrived.

5:41 p.m. A subject was trying to move a mobile home, but did not have the proper permits.

6:05 p.m. Standby while the fire department checked a home for possible carbon monoxide poisoning. Everything was OK.

9:58 p.m. Report of three young males who were making noise. They were asked to move along and keep their voices down.

Friday, September 30

9:10 a.m. Response to a message about dogs being found. Officer responded to the address, but there was nobody home and no dogs.

1:27 p.m. Report of a phone scam, claiming subjects owe back taxes. It should be noted the IRS contacts through mail correspondence, not phone calls.

10:32 p.m. Manager of a rental property had people move out and leave a dog behind.

Saturday, October 1

1:15 p.m. Caller reported subjects had removed the chain off a gate, entered the back yard and released a dog.

2:20 p.m. Report of harassment at a football game, including derogatory remarks.

8:50 p.m. Report of a fight between a mother, son and stepfather. The situation was resolved.

Monday, October 2

1:04 p.m. Report of a dead dog on the train tracks. The owner was contacted.

3:11 p.m. Dispute regarding an estate. Advice was given on how to resolve some issues.

6:12 p.m. A wallet was found, and the owner was contacted.

Tuesday, October 3

3:11 p.m. A vehicle with California plates was observed driving through stop signs. The vehicle could not be located.

9:43 p.m. Disagreement between a grandfather and grandson. The matter was resolved.

Circuit court

Salahuddin Najar was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance. There was no information regarding sentencing.

Jay Reese was found guilty of driving under suspension and no insurance, and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 160 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $500

Births

Bridger Bill Upton was born Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Shayla and Dillon Upton of Thermopolis.

He weighed seven pounds, 10 ounces, and was 20.75 inches long.

Grandparents are Dempsey and Senta Hansen of Yoder, Wyo., and Bill Upton and Mark and Tara Hepell of Kemmerer, Wyo.

Debra Annette Bankert was born Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Amanda and Terry Bankert of Wyoming.

She weighed six pounds, and was 19.75 inches long.

Grand parents are Thom and Debbie White of Wyoming and Roger and Jackie Bankert of Utah.
