Andreen invited to Shrine Bowl

This summer, senior KinDale Andreen will have the chance to pursue her passion, having been invited to the 2016 Wyoming Shrine Bowl as an athletic trainer. The game is scheduled for Saturday, June 11 at Casper.

Andreen found out about the invitation on March 8, and said she's really excited and honored for it. She loves being with sports, and taking care of people, and sports medicine brings those passions together. She has been a sports trainer for the past four years and really loved it.

Freshman year saw Andreen mainly getting water, or heat and ice for players as needed.

As the years went by, her responsibilities became more advanced, to where she tapes ankles and helps with injuries.

She noted that if a player is injured on the field, she can run out and check injuries, but she can't really diagnose.

One of her most memorable incidents happened her freshman year, during which a student dislocated his elbow and she had to put a splint on it. It being her first year, she said it was a bit nerve-wracking.

Following graduation, Andreen will attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Sports Medicine program.

Head Football Coach and Physical Education and Weights Instructor Rob Anderson expressed his congratulations for Andreen, noting the invitation to the bowl game is also an educational opportunity for her.

He added in the years he's worked with Andreen, she's been very attentive to the students that are injured, and always on the ball.
