TMS girls basketball wrap ups

Eighth graders finish season with 12-4 record

The Thermopolis Middle School eighth grade girls' basketball team finished their season with a record of 12-4 and a fourth place finish at at the conference tournament in Powell Feb. 27. The girls won against Powell but fell to both Cody and Greybull for their fourth place finish.

"I have played basketball in middle school, high school and college and these girls showed me they have talent," said head coach Stevie Haughian.

According to Haughian, the girls' toughest teams throughout the season where Cody and Greybull. Those were the only teams they lost to during the season.

This was Haughian's first year coaching and she said it was a great experience. "The girls were very talented. They go to camps during the summer and play every chance they get during the off season," she said.

Some of these girls have been playing together in one way or another since they were young.

"The eighth graders and seventh graders are going to be very competitive once they hit high school," said Haughian. A statement that was repeated by the seventh grade girls head coach Kent Hessenthaler.

Members of the team include Dani Jo Pebbles, Olivia Weyer, Aspen Jensen, Tahja Hunt, Krynn McGinty, Sesi Jensen, Kenna Bomengen, Kaylee DeVries, Audrey Axtell and Akela Franklin. Maggie Cable is manager of the team.
