Rebuttal to comments about 'The Hateful Eight'

I appreciate the opportunity to rebut recent letters regarding my letter concerning the movie The Hateful Eight.

Obviously we, and many others who contacted us, were not the target demographic represented by letter writer Mr. Burrows.

Having reached senior citizen status, I am familiar with the work of Q. Tarantino. I have chosen not to see any of his previous films save one (From Dusk till Dawn – vampires were all the rage back then). No research was needed as suggested by Mr. Burrows; I was familiar with Tarantino’s work.

As stated in my previous letter, we attended the movie to support our local theater (as nicely acknowledged by Mr. Burrows in his first sentence), and out of curiosity about the buffalo coats. But still we were not prepared to be as offended as we were by the movie. Must be a sign of the times, and the differences between the mores of my generation and those of Mr. Burrows’ generation.

Regarding Russ Ferree’s letter, it is evident that, absent any real merit to the discussion, he resorted to personal attacks. I don’t recall making any personal attack in my letter, but he must have taken my remarks personally. Ferree references an article from National Review, which claims that Tarantino didn’t call cops “murderers.”

I reference an article dated October 25, 2015 in The Daily Caller: “When I see murders, I do not stand by,” Tarantino said. “I have to call a murder a murder and I have to call the murderers the murderers.” He was speaking at a march against police brutality called “Rise Up October” in New York City on October 24, 2015. You can decide who Tarantino was calling “murderers.”

This was not a “spoon-fed Fox fib” as stated by Ferree. Facts are facts, which are always true or else they wouldn’t be “facts.”

As for the sarcasm and many other personal attacks in his letter, it is always easier to attack the person than to argue the facts.  I find the personal attacks, to use Ferree’s word, “hilarious”!
